The Brain For Online Games

Ok, i’m not really a huge fan of first-person shooters, but I’ve gotta say Call of Duty 4 has definately shifted my opinion of them.
I’ve been playing for a few months, at first only on the single player campaign, and very recently I thought I would go online to try out the multiplayer. It can be tough going, especially if you’re a newbie, so here’s a selection of tips to help you out:

1) Learn the maps.

I know, it seems obvious, but this is key to doing well online. To familiarise yourself, without getting killed all the time, run a system link game on your own, and get to know each map at your own pace. Try to identify spots where enemies might hold up, such as buildings, behind walls etc.

2) Always use the sights.

At medium to long distance, using the ironsights, red dot scope, or ACOG scope on your weapon of choice will ensure a more accurate hit than firing from the hip. An exception to this would be if you are attacking in close quarters, where it would be quicker.

3) Fire in bursts.

Spray and pray is not the way to go - it makes you less accurate, and wastes ammo. Instead, shoot off a quick burst of fire, then release, then shoot another burst, then release, and so on.

4) Keep an eye on the radar.

The orange dots on the radar signify the enemy. Be aware of your position in relation to them. Most of the time the enemy show up when they fire a weapon, or when a UAV scan is called in. Be aware that in some instances, some enemies might equip a UAV jammer, or attach a silencer to their weapon, in which case they may not show up on the radar.

5) Keep mobile.

It’s not generally a good idea to stay in one spot the whole time. Fire, and move - even if you miss your target, don’t be stationary. The longer you stay still, the easier it will be for someone to pick you off.

These tips have helped me a lot in improving my game. Hopefully you will find some use for them, if you had not considered them already.

Off-topic:

Well guys, it’s been a hard week in the office, but it’s slowly getting there. I’ve managed to set up the cyst removal london page, and Jeff’s finally sorted out the Corporate photography events page. It’s all starting to come together at last!
