Indigo Prophecy

Fahrenheit or Indigo Prophecy is a one of its kind. First of, the game uses a new technique of gameplay. The joystick mapping is unique and new to the gaming industry. Instead of it being used to aim guns or melee your enemy, it mapped like this, a rotating action could be to unscrew a light bulb. If both the joysticks were pushed to the right the player would dodge an on coming car etc. This created a sense of uniqueness and creativity which reflected on the creators of the game (Atari).
Secondly, this game is a primary influence to many RPG games of this time and age where actions and conversations have serious impacts on how the story played out in the game. Thus games created by creators like BioWare (Mass Effect, Dragon Age) have their roots inspired by this very game. Therefore creating a greater depth in the story an RPG can portray. Other games which have tired to use a similar platform to create a game like this (Heavy Rain) haven’t been as successful in doing so.
The Story revolves around the character Lucas who is possessed while in the East Side Diner which makes him commit a murder. As he regains his conciousness he realises that a certain 3rd power is controlling him. Detective Carla Valenti who is in charge of the investigation of murder picks up on clues left behind by Lucas. Things go horribly wrong for Lucas, the cops reveal his identity and chase his down during which he realizes he possess a certain power in him where he can dodge bullets, knock heavy policeman down, run at unreal speeds etc. He is killed later on when he tries to save his ex-girlfriend after she gets kidnapped by the Oracle, the Mayan sorcerer who seeks to kill Lucas. He is resurrected later on is joined by Carla to bring down the Oracle who seeks the Indigo Child (whos voice grants a secret power to the bearer) backed by the Purple Clan. It really is a very exciting game, the great news is you can experience this adrenaline rush without the need to buy expensive ski insurance. You may be moving at break neck speed but there is no danger of actually breaking your neck.
