Online Gaming In Office – A Big Problem

The unlimited internet connection available in office is not used to just to check out prices of diesel Brighton and other material. It is also used to play games on the internet. How would your boss feel if you were to setup a cricket pitch in the middle of the office and enjoy a quick 20-20 match? That is probably the last day you would be employed in that office.

However, many employees spend a lot of time playing computer games on and off the internet in their office without any restrictions whatsoever. Of course, the management is strict with those individuals who are caught playing games. However, it is virtually impossible to catch an individual who is allotted a different room of his or her own. Even the person working in a cubicle with the monitor facing away from the entrance can adjust his or her position to ensure nobody finds out what is on the screen.

In any event, to peer into the computer screen of another individual is considered impolite. The end result is that a large amount of time is wasted simply because employees are busy playing games. The problem does not end here. The cost of Internet services is a business expense. This means that the employees have to suffer double loss due to the combination of expenses for the internet and loss of productivity.

Human resource managers are yet to find a perfect solution to this problem. The best option is to inculcate a sense of discipline in all those individuals who play games on the internet during office hours.
