Consoles save the world

Consoles save the world

I would personally prefer PC over the games consoles. The PC is a very capable device able to perform more than what consoles like the Xbox and PS can do. However we cannot run ahead with this argument as we all know why, to get a well performing PC that will last you for at least 5 to 6 years, you would need to spend a lot of money.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 current rates are 224 pounds and 160 to 200 pound repectively. However take for instance Alienware, a good machine would easily cost 2000 pounds even if you try to save up as much as you can (keeping in mind gaming performance is not compromised). And you would have also noticed that the console receives more interest and attention from game producers and makers, the console market is far ahead compared to PC market alone. Game producers would be fools not to make use of it, this is where the big bucks are. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 have near to comparison specs of a high end pc but not accurately the same, thus for a much bigger bargin the consumers would prefer consoles. We have also witnessed alot of exclusives hitting the PS and Xbox thus consumers are sometimes forced to buy them just to play a few exclusives.

Meanwhile, poor ol'PC is rusting away. It also makes alot more sense to spend on a console than a PC as the games available on consoles are increasing are far better than what you’ll get on PC exclusives which appear only once in a blue moon sadly, and 50% are crap anyway.

It disheartens me but this the fact of how the gaming market has been saved by consoles or else it would shrunk and vanished long back. So yes id say it again, the consoles did save the world. Use your comet discount codes and treat yourself to a console if don’t have one, trust me you’d be missing out on a lot of great titles out there.

Who’s on top?

Who’s on top?

We do have a very overcrowded market of games in our time and age. It’s hard to see who is the best and who will remain the best in the years to come. I have come to clear up that doubt and give you reasons to my answer. We will compare the prominent gaming consoles as per this year i.e PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii.
I’m sure you’ve noticed that I haven’t put up the portable game market as their impact on the market is minimal. The PC has been around forever even before the PlayStation and the Xbox were even concepts. As a matter of fact these consoles are based on the PC. None of them would have existed without the PC. It has much of my respect as the PC remains an honest reliable machine capable of out performing any other platform by miles, but it is a great expenses to get a good gaming PC. So for that reason the PC will be eliminated, it is more of single player machine than multi. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 on the other hand which more or less fall under the same category are more serious gamer based platforms that publish games for the everyday player, they have not as yet been able to encroach the causal family gamer market but soon will.
However to my disbelief the Nintendo Wii has gone far beyond the conventional gamer. It doesn’t have the best graphics nor is it capable of supporting a massive online multiplayer games nor is it the most attractive looking machine, YET, it outsells the remainder of the platforms by very big figures. How did that happen?
The Wii is responsible for bringing the whole family under one roof instead of the dad who tried to play a game with his son on the PS3 and can’t get a hang of it. It is a motion based console which requires no intense previous knowledge of how it works. If you need to play tennis all you have to do is swing the controller like a tennis racket. If you need to throw something in the game you perform the throwing action with the controller. The tagline ’Jump In'suits the Wii better than the Xbox.
So for this simple reason the Wii will continue to dominate the market for alteast next 5 years until the remaining the platforms become more universal and family based. You could buy Second hand campervans and go with nothing but the Wii and actually have a good time with your family.

Gran Turismo

Gran Turismo

By far the most influential racer ever made. Each and every game made has been a landmark achievement of its age. It is respected and noticed by real time race drivers and engineers. Each game that has ever come out from the Polyphony Digital studios has come out with 100% dedication to the racers.
Yes they may seem boring but the whole point of making a GT game is show true love and dedication to showing what cars are made up of from their bare minimums without any childish modifications and tunings. The series has not only created a great name for itself but it has also influenced other simulation racing games. It has its own awards ceremony which it hold alongside SEMA autoshow at Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the single largest selling franchise on the PS3 with a total sales of 57 million copies worldwide. It has a released 6 very successful titles so far namely Gran Turismo, GT 2, GT3 A-Spec, GT 4 , GT (for PSP), GT5 Prologue to the unmissable GT5 which is expected to be a world smash hit expected to be released by this year November 2nd. It’s very realistic graphics and car damaging effects plus unbeatable physics will remain the most realistic driver-simulator for a good 5 to 6 years until GT comes up with the next racer. Many racing racing simulators used by professional drivers are Polyphony Digital inspired simulators. They have also had the privilege to design a unique body work on the Nissan 350z which later came to be called as the ’Fairlady'Z NISMO S-Tuned Nissan 350z. They have worked alongside other automotive companies to demonstrate their vehicles via visual aided presentations. No other company has ever been entrusted with such projects.
So it don’t matter where you are from or how you feel about racing games, it’s time you and your friends hired Used campervans and headed out into the jungle with nothing but the GT series and required hardware to enjoy it peaceful without any distractions. It brings me great honour and pleasure to bring forth the series to you.

PUSH to TOUCH

PUSH to TOUCH

We move into the next generation of ’Touch’, we still do have ’Push'button phones but in the next 3 or 4 years, everyone’s going have a touch phone, it will set a new standard. For the moment all touch phones are still expensive but in the years to come, these phone be sold more and the price will begin to fall.
This opens new doors to smart phones, GAMES! There are hundreds and hundreds of new games that are available exclusively for touch phones. They can be controlled through touch or by simply turn the phone around its pivot. Drive a car like how you would drive it with a steering wheel. Cut vegetables on a chopping board by moving you fingers cross them in a cutting action, lift your iPad up to the sky and join the stars and see constellations that you hadn’t seen before. The simple idea of turn phones from ’PUSH'integration to ’TOUCH'is a reason enough to sell a product. Getting things done on your handheld device by simply moving your fingers across them makes using them more easier and better. Paint a picture with your freehand rather than your rigid mouse where you lack freedom and creativity. Just like Apple, Microsoft has also release a touch PC side by side called the ’Surface'which is due to release next year end. Working on the same principle the devices we use gets more and more personal instead of the robotic feel of mouse and keyboard. free movements of your hands can be used to create things that you could have never created on your PC before.
Freedom of movement freedom of mind thus freedom of choice. Our electronic devices for the next 7 to 10 years will be based on touch technology by the time which the ipod for sale is no longer wanted. What comes after that, well we haven’t gotten that creative as yet. Maybe you can.

The Side walk Sale

The Side walk Sale

Sunny days in Autumn are the best for side walk sales and the courtyard building the perfect venue. Three stories high, 5 doors, two flats at each door means 30 apartments have put their junk outside and posted signs around the neighbourhood.
My British boyfriend calls it the club 18-30 for the broke hipsters. The sellers put out their old junk in an extremely flirty manner. My neighbour has her used laptop next to several pairs of lace bras with a small sign that says ’neither of these fit’get them cheap. Its not only the punk-eratti that comes though, you have very astute Mexican immigrants with an eye for a well made tool, warm gloves, and a resell-able television.
The woman from 3 east who just lost a couple of kilos has put out her old clothes on a rail. The drag queens show up and are completely ecstatic at the size 20 ball gowns.
The boyfriend sees the Rolling Stone compilations and starts a conversation with the owner, each CD covers a decade of music and soon they have found a neighbour with a player for sale, and one with an extension cord. They run electricity from 1 west and soon we are all dancing in the autumn sun. 2 north has a popcorn popper and 2 west has popcorn, the caretaker is particularly broke so he brings out a cooler filled with ice and starts selling beer and coca-cola. I have found a feather boa, winter boots, and as much as I hate to admit it, new used underpants.

Antivirus – fight the good fight

Antivirus - fight the good fight

When first buying a computer most people are paranoid that as soon as they connect their computer to the internet it will become stuffed full of viruses, worms and trojans (assuming they know what these things are). These people are paranoid and totally justified in being so. A study in 2004 showed then that an unpatched Windows machine would only last 20 minutes on the internet before it was infect with something.
http://news.cnet.com/2100-7349_3-5313402.html
Do we live in a much safer and enlighted environment nowadays, six years after that test? Yes, but probably not that much.

So, what can you do with your computer to stop it getting infected? There are a few simple things – don’t use Internet Explorer, use Firefox; download your install files on a separate, protected machine and then copy them over before you connect to the internet; run some decent AV software.

There are many choices of antivirus software out there to choose from and it can probably be quite confusing for computer n00bs but don’t fear, here’s some tips:

- Buying AV software
If you are really paranoid and want to spend some good cash on some AV softare, then most of the big names will all do the same thing: Kaspersky, Norton, McAfee, etc. Your computer may have come with some already – if that is the case, just keep using it and make sure it’s updated. If it asks you to pay for a subscription and you haven’t been please with the service however, consider some of the free options.

- Free Antivirus
AVG Free is one of the top pieces of free AV out there and will do everything you need. It’s free to download and use and you can upgrade to the premier version if you like it and want to do more with it.

- Microsoft Antivirus
This is my personal favourite and what I would recommend. Microsoft recently release Microsoft Security Essentials with Windows 7 and it’s a free tool from MS that actually works really well! It does AV, protects your from spyware and adware and is really light weight so it won’t slow down your sytem. Give it a go!

Super Mario Generation

Super Mario Generation

The modern day technologies in entertainment have transformed the gaming world completely – people are no longer interested in the old Terminator game consoles, the simple 2D games or the brilliant for their times Super Mario games. Children nowadays have their first touch with gaming while playing super modern, full 3D games and, to some extent, this is quite unfortunate since they will never see the genius of the previous generations of video games.

In the 80s and 90s the console games were quite simple, with not many games compatibale. Eveen though the computers were already advancing in the gaming world, still games like Super Mario and James Bond 007 were total hits among players of all ages. The Sega Mega Drive consoles then were much more prefered than PCs and children were actually playing simple 2D graphics games for hours fascinated by the gameplay.

To be honest, I have never played a game with such love and dedication as when i played Super Mario (luckily there are plenty of cheap sofas for sale once you’ve worn a hole in yours!) This game, at the first glance, has nothing better to offer than the games of the 21st century but somehow, for its time, this was a total revulutionary game – with so many levels to complete, with a shaped plot (quite unimportant though) and with extreme difficulty when you reach the final several levels.

This is the reason why it is quite unfortunate that children nowadays will never see the gradation of games – from simple console games to the most advanced 3D PC games. I saw the gradual transformation of the game industry and still games like Super Mario remain my total favourite for the best games ever.

Stac Craft II

Stac Craft II

After the first amazing game that was released 10 years ago, Blizard came up with a second part of SC -the first expansion pack is called Star Craft II: Wings of Liberty. With stunnig graphics and 3D images, remarkable soundtrack and fascinating gameplay, the product flew off the shelf like they were selling gold and was anticipated by millions of fans, now enjoying the high quality gaming experience.

The plot of the game is probably one of its best features. The story is about a terran groun of rebels (the terran race is the whole of the humanity inhabiting the galaxy) that were betrayed by the terran Emperor and now seek the way to both protect mankind from the alien invaders ( Zergs and Protoss) and to dethrone the false Emperor. Using different techniques and cinematics, Blizzard have created not only an amazing strategy game but a whole new world inside -the main characters'actions outside the battlefield, their feelings and relationships are well presented making this game not only a tactical and massive battles product, but also a game that turns to the personalitites of the main leaders in the universe.

Another feature that is crucial in the game is the story about the terran rebels commander who lost his love to the Zergs -the brutal creatures adopted her and made her their Queen of Blades -nothing to do with humans creature that is devoted to the Zergs. Thus the commander, with the help of the Protoss artefacts will have to both fight the Terran Emperor and save his love. Truely an amazing game, Star Craft II is the best the game market can offer now.

The Samsung Galaxy S

posted by easmgr in Uncategorized

The latest offering from Samsung brings to the table what appears to be a legitimate player in the current smartphone world. It’s just a blessing that it’s not actually operating on any software designed by Samsung themselves (it’s runs on Google’s Android operating system).

There are some pretty neat features, most notably the gigantic screen. The Super AMOLED screen, one of the phone’s key advertising and selling points, is indeed super. It’s really a cut above the screens found on most of it’s competitors (and is an easy competitor for the new iPhone 4) and places this phone into a leage of it’s own.

Combine with that the general lack of traditional buttons (it operates mostly using touch sensitive buttons), and you have something that many people will inevitably compare to the iPhone. But that’s no bad thing! The strength of this configuration is that there are considerably fewer buttons than, for instance, the HTCs (which also run on Android), and as such the Galaxy is much less unwieldy.

Despite the huge screen, the Galaxy weighs in at a meager 119g – much much lighter than most smartphone competitors. It does suffer for battery life however.

In terms of software, Samsung have never been strong themselves. This has meant some slightly clunky homegrown “widgets”, and an occasionally unwieldy menu structure, but the hardware of the phone (including a 1 GHz processor) is great and so Android, and the various third party apps, run excellently.

Clocking in at a fairly decent £400 for a PAYG phone (or £30 pm on contract) the Samsung is just cheap enough to make it a strong rival to the HTC range, and even the iPhones. Impressive stuff from the folks over at Samsung.

Ratchet Clank Future Tools of Destruction for Playstation 3 is not one of these games. It has great graphics and awesome sound effects. It is well worth every penny.

There are different modes for you to play in. You need to travel from different worlds trying to find different things. You get to use many different types of creative weapons to kill the different robots and creatures on the different planets. Some are in water, some in air, and some on land. You get to use all kinds of different kinds of modes of transportation too. This game is so creative and leaves you in awe of the amazing features. You will have so much fun going through all of the doors and caves throughout the different levels. You get to fight boss monsters at the end of the levels that are difficult and require you to use all of your different weapons. It is so much fun to battle them and win. Once you have found all of the secret rooms you will have all of the tools you need to beat the game.

This is not a game that you will be able to breeze through. You will have to figure out puzzles. There are a lot of different things that you are going to have to master in order to beat the game. There are many different maneuvers that you have to perfect and take the time to learn. In the end you will be so happy that you bought this game. It is so much fun to play and completely worth the time, effort, and money. No only if getting rid of lines and wrinkles would be as easy.
